Tips
For Buyers
- Determine how much home can you
afford. You may want to consult a mortgage broker to see how large a loan you qualify for.
- Choose the area you wish to live
in with specific attention paid to the school district if you have school age children. If
you wish to live in an area of school district that generally has prices a little out of
your reach you may consider a smaller house of "fixer upper". While the house
can be altered over time you cant do anything about your location or school
district.
- Think about your familys
needs. If your family will be growing in the next few years make sure the house you choose
is large enough to meet your needs. If you think your house will need to grow as your
family grows try to choose property that will not present any barriers to expansion of you
home.
- Remember that the home as you see
it reflects the current occupants taste. Try to see past the décor and pay attention to
the things that matter the most; construction, condition and features.
- When you are ready to proceed with
a home purchase contact a lawyer that specializes in real estate to represent you.
- Once youve found a house,
have a professional home inspector prepare a report on the house. Most mortgage companies
require this but even if your not required to have one it is always a good idea.
